Raise a Hallelujah

In my imagination, I see… Serena and myself sitting quietly at a table in the reference section of the Library of Heaven. We are adorable girls, about 9 years old, in frilly dresses and patent leather shoes. Suddenly, Serena finds something fascinating in her book! Her face lights up as she tells me all about it. Sparks begin shooting from her body; first randomly then more and more, like a living sparkler. My crown begins to glow brighter and brighter then bursts into flames! Serena’s crown is white hot now!

Our Lady Librarian gives us a warning glance through her bejeweled glasses which are just for show, because she’s a show off. She is probably thinking of our last visit when Serena knocked down the bookshelves and bent my crown. But I have learned a shocking truth since then… Our lady loves praise!

I jump to my feet and shout as loud as I can, “Our God is an Awesome God!” And boy do I mean it! Never to be outdone, Serena jumps up and hollers, “Glory to God in the Highest!” We high-five each other a little harder than necessary. Trumpets sound and angel choirs burst with “Hallelujah!” Thunder rumbles long and loud making the chandeliers tremble overhead.

Our Lady puts her hand over her heart and says, “Thank you, girls.” After one final blast on our silver horns, we sit down to our research while being extra careful not to catch the books on fire. Our Lady picks up her adventure novel and settles comfortably back on her throne.

I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.
